Medical UnderwritingWhen you turn in your Application and Financial Documents, we will initiate the Medical Underwriting process. Paramedical ExamDepending on your age, the state you live in, your health, and requested coverage amount, various medical tests may be done as part of your application. These may include a paramedical exam, urine panel, HIV screen, blood panel, and/or EKG. A nurse or doctor will contact you to set up the exam at a time and place of your convenience. Be sure to "fast" prior to the medical screening tests. The nurse/doctor should remind you of this when scheduling the appointment. A 4-hour fast is the minimum, however 12-hour fasts are sometimes recommended (ie. scheduling your medical test to be the first thing in the morning before having breakfast or coffee should easily accomplish a 12-hour fast). Medical RecordsThe Medical Records from ALL of your medical professionals may be requested for review as part of the Underwriting process, so please provide complete information (address, name, phone#, dates of treatment) on the application for visits with or treatments by Primary Care Physicians, Specialists, Surgeons, Chiropractors, Counselors, Acupuncturists, Therapists, etc. The records are retrieved in compliance with HIPPA regulations. Incomplete information will delay record retrieval, and thus delay your application decision. If you can obtain all your medical records and submit them with the application, it will drastically speed up the underwriting process.
